What types of pasta do the British prefer?
Italian pasta has long come into use, becoming a familiar dish or side dish in many cuisines of the world. More than two-thirds (68%) of Britons admit to eating pasta at least once a week, and 42% do it several times. Among the many types of pasta, the most popular in the UK is fusilli, made in a spiral shape. It is preferred by 19% of respondents, according to a recent study by YouGov.In second place in popularity are classic spaghetti - they were chosen by 15%, and the third was taken by the feather tubes - penne (11%). Every tenth Briton prefers tagliatelle - long and flat ribbons.
Tortellini (Italian dumplings) was chosen by 7% of the respondents. This type of pasta is more popular among young people: it is indicated as a favorite by 14% of respondents aged 18-24, compared with 3% of respondents over 65. Another 7% of Britons chose conquillet (shells), which are also more popular with young people (13%).
The least popular among the British are lasagna (3%), Italian gnocchi dumplings (3%) and tubular products - rigatoni (2%). Almost every tenth respondent (8%) answered that he does not like any kind of pasta.
